This synopsis is being posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website located at http://www.fbo.gov, the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) website located at https://www.neco.navy.mil/, and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Acquisition website located at http://www.crane.navy.mil/acquisition/synopcom.htm. FBO is the primary point of entry to be used when access to synopses and solicitations from the World Wide Web is required. However, the NECO webpage as well as the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Acquisition webpage serve as alternatives if the FBO website is unavailable. MARKET SURVEY ? SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS The United States Navy is issuing this Sources Sought Announcement and request for information as part of a market survey seeking potential sources and information for a Lightweight Stabilized Weapon Mount. The Government is currently defining its minimum requirements and seeks input from industry on the current state of the art for lightweight stabilized weapon mounts. The mounts will be tested for suitability aboard naval vessel applications. Testing will be performed at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana. ? Mount will allow the gunner to operate in a hands on stabilized mode. ? Mount will serve as an augmentation to the crew served weapon to improve accuracy. ? Mount will weigh less than 150lbs. ? Mount will be able to handle the weight and recoil of a M2HB .50 cal machine gun. ? Mount may allow the gunner to operate by remote control. ? Mount may accept a camera to provide a stabilized image for the gunner. Interested vendors should submit the following information regarding its Lightweight stabilized weapon mount(s). Please submit performance capabilities and cost estimates in English measurements and US currency: a. Performance: Please submit a technical description of the product, such as photographs, physical characteristics, operational features, and performance data. This should consist of commercial product literature, operating instructions, and/or supplemental technical documentation that define the Stabilized Weapon Mount and associated hardware. b. Schedule/Cost: Please submit, as a minimum, the price and delivery times for the System. c. Place of Manufacture: Please provide the City, State and Country where the System will be manufactured. The Government requests that interested parties provide their product literature and estimated pricing by close of business, 17 January 2008, to the Contracting Officer point of contact, Mr. Rodney Fultz, e-mail: rodney.fultz@navy.mil, telephone (812) 854-5767; FAX: (812) 854-5095. This sources sought announcement does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ), or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the Government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. No solicitation document exists. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. Any costs incurred by interested companies in response to this announcement will NOT be reimbursed. Any information provided that is marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosures to non-government personnel and entities. Your interest in this program is appreciated. It should be noted that during the evaluation of all information submitted, the Government plans to utilize employees from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Booz Allen Hamilton as advisors to the Government evaluators.
