- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE/Request for Information (RFI). Vendors are requested to read the RFI in its entirety to ensure information submittals are complete. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation part 10.002(iii) the U.S. Coast Guard is conducting market research to identify commercially available market sources for an Electronic Message Sign with the following specifications/characteristics: Powered by 28 volt Direct Current (DC.); Sign does not weigh more than 20lbs.; -Sign display has visibility (day or night) for a minimum distance of 400ft.; Weather resistant to operation in all weather types; Withstand 175 knots of airflow while mounted to outside of aircraft.; If mounted inside the aircraft able to withstand 20G crash.; Ability to input numerous message phrases at one time and use various messages depending upon situation.; Inputted message stored in a database in the sign or controller for future use. The Coast Guard does not want to develop new technology and is seeking to identify Electronic Message Signs that are available in the commercial market place. Interested companies are encouraged to respond to this announcement as soon as possible. Responses should include the following: a) name and address of contractor; b) Cage Code and indicate if registered in CCR; c) point of contact including name, title, phone, and email address; d) equipment specifications, options, descriptive literature, brochures, price ranges and should include if item is of a type customarily available in the commercial marketplace, of a type customarily available in the commercial marketplace with modifications, or used exclusively for governmental purposes; e) state if manufacturer or distributor of the product and if a distributor, identify the manufacturer of the product(s); f) state whether the business is currently classified as Large, Small, Small Disadvantaged, 8(a), HubZone Small Business, Women Owned, Veteran Owned, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small business in terms of the NAICS code; g) GSA Contract information if applicable, and other information that provides the Coast Guard with a more accurate picture of the potential marketplace for any subsequent requirement. The NAICS code is 339950 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. Responses should be submitted to Denise.P.Hall@uscg.mil or faxed to (252)334-5242. This notice does not constitute a Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a request for an offer or a quote. Therefore there will be no evaluation of responses to this RFI for award purposes. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resulting future solicitation where quotes or proposals will be requested. There is no date set for a resulting solicitation or if a solicitation will be issued. All submitted materials will be designated for Government Use Only. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement and any follow up information requests.
