- Description
- The United States Marine Corps PM Tanks is investigating placing a sniper detection system on the M1A1 Main Battle Tank. The sniper detection system will enable the tank crew to locate snipers under all terrain conditions and when the tank is stationary and moving. Responses to this request should be for an Off the Shelf solution. It is important to note to any prospective vendor that the USMC is not interested in any development of the sniper detection system. The USMC interest extends to the mounting/integration of the sniper detection system on and into the M1A1. The sniper detection system should have the following capabilities: a. Be able to work when the vehicle is stationary and moving. b. Work in all terrains and environmental conditions. c. Bearing accuracy error of < 3 degrees. d. Elevation accuracy error of < 3 degrees. e. Shot detection > 95%. f. Minimum false alarms. g. Operate from vehicle power of 18 to 30 volts DC. i. Withstand the tactical environments of the M1A1 tank. All vendors having the capability of meeting these requirements are requested to submit copies of relevant documentation in response to this Request for Information at no cost to the Government. Written responses should be submitted not later than close of business 20 March 2008. Firms should also include literature, brochures, and capabilities summaries directly addressing their ability to meet the aforementioned needs. The submission of the product information should not be construed as a commitment to procure equipment. The Government will not pay for any information submitted. No telephonic responses will be accepted. Reponses should be submitted to the contact person listed above at Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, ATTN CTQ, Mary Lee Schuck, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134 or via email at marylee.schuck@usmc.mil. THE SUBMISSION OF THIS INFORMATION IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONTRUSED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS/SERVICES, NOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED.
