Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks firms interested in providing in-kind replacement of a chiller used to cool well water for fish culture at the North Attleboro National Fish Hatchery, N. Attleboro, MA. The existing chiller was manufactured by Mechanical Resources Inc. and was placed into service in 1992. It is a model CH1RSA-25 having a capacity of 21.88 tons and a fluid pressure drop of 12 feet. The hatchery specifications call for a flow of 100 gallons per minute to be cooled 5 degrees. All parts in contact with the water supply must be stainless steel and not other materials (copper, bronze, brass, zinc, cadmium) that can leach into the water supply. The replacement chiller should show an overall net energy savings and use an EPA approved refrigerant. It is anticipated HCFC-22 (also know as R-22) can be replaced by a suitable alternative such as R-410A. Evacuation fluids, refrigerant removal, and proper disposal of the existing chiller is necessary. The NAICS code for this project is 238220. The size standard is $13 million. This procurement is set aside for small business. It will be requested that interested firms visit the site to verify the existing chiller system and to ensure the proposed replacement meets all the existing conditions and requirements.
