- The Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) is seeking sources for alternative fabrics to be used in applications for the USPS uniform program. Fabrics being considered can be natural or synthetic fiber or a blend of natural and synthetic fiber. Additionally, the fabrics submitted should possess the salient characteristics listed below: (1) Knit fabric for polo shirt: Desired features include improved opacity to address modesty issues, comfort, quick drying, easy care, natural fiber feel, and performance properties (including but not limited to features such as moisture management, antimicrobial, ultraviolet protection, etc.), and availability from multiple domestic manufacturing sources. (2) Woven fabric for trousers/slacks/skirts/culottes: Desired features include improved comfort, quick drying, easy care, natural fiber feel, and performance properties (including but not limited to features such as moisture management, soil release, etc.) and availability from multiple domestic manufacturing sources. The submitted fabrics, if accepted, must eventually match the visual appearance and color of fabric currently used in the USPS uniform program. This Sources Sought Notice is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Manufacturers who believe they have product(s) capable of meeting the aboverequirements are requested to contact Debbie Peppenelli at (508) 233-4119, x115 or via email at dpeppenelli@nctrf.natick.army.mil to schedule an appointment at NCTRF to present product information such as sample yardage, product literature, company brochures, places of manufacture and other relevant information. All of the aforementioned material can be mailed to Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility, Attn: D. Peppenelli, Warehouse 20/86, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760, or submitted via email to dpeppenelli@nctrf.natick.army.mil, no later than 30 April 2008. Submitted information and materials will not be returned. This Sources Sought Notice is not a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This Sources Sought Notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure these items, nor does the US Navy or USPS intend to award on the basis of the Sources Sought Notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submissions of responses to this request for information and Government use of such information.
