- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Special Communication Requirements Division (SCRD) is surveying the commercial vendor community for all interested parties for this Request for Information (RFI) seeking Non-developmental item (NDI) Lightweight Generator Technology that employs state of the art construction and modular design, which allows for high power output and low overall system weight. Desired is technology allowing the use of lightweight construction materials, engines/generators and packaging techniques that permit the entire generator to weigh less than 196 lbs (with an objective weight of 129.5) or be broken down into components that do not exceed this weight without the use of tools. The generator shall provide a threshold of 10 KW Power continuous with an objective of 20 KW. The generator shall output 120/208 VAC, 60 Hz three phase, five-wire power regulated to 20% with a 3 second recovery from no load to full load condition. The generator shall be tactically quiet and shall not exceed noise levels of 85 dBa at 3 feet and 70 dBa at 23 feet. The generator shall run off of #1 Diesel, #2 Diesel, Jet Propellant 5 and Jet Propellant 8 fuels and shall have an onboard fuel tank sized to provide 8 hours of operation at 50% load. It is preferred that the generator does not suffer the effects of wet stacking at low loads. The Government is interested in technology that can meet the requested specifications or can be modified to meet the Government’s needs. THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP), BUT RATHER A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) from industry that will allow the Government to identify interested sources capable of meeting the requirements as stated in this synopsis. There is no commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, make an award, or be responsible for any monies expended by any interested parties in support of the effort mentioned above. Vendors can additionally provide a capabilities statement of no more than 5 pages in length that demonstrates the respondent’s ability to meet the requirements as specified herein. The Government is interested in receiving vendors’ commercial published price lists for items they believe meet the need in this RFI. The Government is also interested in lead-time and current stock level. All data received in response to this RFI, marked or designated as corporate or proprietary, will be fully protected from release outside the Government. Failure to respond to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future associated RFP that may be issued. Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit or award a contract. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website: www.fbo.gov. It is the potential offeror’s responsibility to monitor this site for the release of any follow-on information. All responses, including capability statements, shall be submitted no later than 3:30 PM EST, 1 May 2008. Responses shall be submitted electronically to the designated Contract Specialist, Karin Weinert, in Microsoft Word format or Portable Document Format (PDF) at the following email address: karin.weinert@navy.mil. Please submit any questions regarding this synopsis to Karin Weinert via e-mail to karin.weinert@navy.mil. The Government is not committed nor obligated to pay for the information provided, and no basis for claims against the Government shall arise as a result of a response to this sources sought.
