Description

THE NOTICE BELOW HAS BEEN AMENDED TO CHANGE THE RESPONSE DATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Metallurgy Division, has a requirement for a field-emission scanning transmission electron microscope (FE-STEM) with imaging and chemical analysis capabilities for atomic-level studies of magnetic materials structures and their chemical inhomogeneities. The electron microscope shall have three modes of operation: a scanning transmission (STEM) mode, a conventional transmission mode (TEM), as well as a magnetic structure imaging (Lorentz) mode to allow examination of materials that are held in a magnetic field-free environment. The Contractor shall furnish and install a high performance, research-grade field emission scanning transmission electron microscope system. Delivery terms shall be FOB DESTINATION. The FE-STEM is classified as a commercial item in accordance with FAR Part 12, and shall be procured using simplified acquisition procedures under the authority of FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334516. The small business size standard is 500 employees. Full and Open Competition shall be utilized. The competitive Request for Quotation (RFQ), RFQ amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/ under RFQ number SB1341-08-RQ-0182. THE RFQ IS ANTICIPATED FOR RELEASE TO THE VENDOR COMMUNITY ON OR ABOUT APRIL 16, 2008, AND WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE VIA THE INTERNET AT THE ABOVE WEB SITE. POTENTIAL OFFERORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCESSING THE WEB SITE. Interested parties must respond to the RFQ in order to be considered for award of any resultant BPA. THERE IS NO WRITTEN SOLICITATION DOCUMENT AVAILABLE, TELEPHONE REQUESTS WILL NOT BE HONORED, AND NO BIDDERS LIST WILL BE MAINTAINED.
