Description: Response to Question: QUESTION: Regarding the EPA Specs document, Number X, Lead Based Paint testing: The spec specifies a definitive positive or negative classification for lead based paint testing. The definitive statement is not possible with any X-ray tube instrument. ANSWER: The XRF analyzer must be able to detect lead paint on a surface within the top four layers of paint or within the top 18 millimeters of paint.
