- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst (NAWCADLKE) intends to procure a new Large Landbased Tow Tractor (LLTT) to replace the existing A/S32A-37 Landbased Tow Tractor (TA-35). The following are some of the requirements for the new LLTT. It shall be a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) item, or COTS item which may require some modification. It shall adhere to national standards as documented in SAE ARP 1247, utilize state-of-the-art technology, and be transportable in military aircraft (C-17 and C-5). It shall have a diesel powerplant and be capable of towing larger aircraft weighing up to 350,000 lbs. gross weight and shall be capable of 35,000 lbs drawbar pull in forward and reverse directions. It shall operate in ambient temperatures up to 140 deg F. As required for any typical Navy Support Equipment, the LLTT shall be highly reliable, maintainable, and supportable. It shall be capable of meeting environmental, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and mobility requirements. Human factors engineering shall be utilized to the greatest extent possible to make the new LLTT a user friendly piece of support equipment. The Government anticipates the award of a Firm Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type contract with a minimum quantity of 5 Pilot Production Units (PPUs) to be purchased with the first Delivery Order. After successful completion of contractor pilot production testing and government suitability and supportability evaluation, the government plans to issue delivery orders for the production units over three years beginning in FY 2011 for up to a maximum of 200 production LLTTs.
