- Description
- NASA/ARC has a requirement for Service Maintenance Agreement of one LEO 912AB andone LEO 1450 Variable Pressure Scanning Electron Microscope. NASA/ARC intends to purchasethis service from the following company: Carl Zeiss SMT Inc., One Corporation Way,Peabody, MA 01960-7925. Pursuant FAR 6.302-1 Carl Zeiss has a uniquely qualifiedpersonnel who maintain and service both the LEO 911AB and the LEO 1450VP scanningelectron microscopes, which are Carl Zeiss products. This service includes installation,maintenance, and servicing these instruments.The maintenance service must include the following:1.Specifically trained personnel who are qualified technicians with properhigh-precision scientific instruments.2.Emergency repair service as required during the hours of 8:00am 5:00pm, Mondaythrough Friday. 3.Labor, travel and replacement parts, as required, excluding consumable items.4.One planned maintenance per contract period.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the procurementwill be conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth under FAR Part 13.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Rafael.A.Medina@nasa.gov not later than 12:00 p.m PST time on July18, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
