- Description
- In accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS), paragraph 3.2.2.4, the FAA intends to award a contract for 100 SunFire V240 servers. The server specifications are as follows:2x1.5GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processors w/1MB L2 cache2GB RAM2x73GB drivesDual power suppliesDVD-ROMXVR-100 Graphics4xIntegrated 10/100/1000BaseT EthernetRail Kit The Traffic Management Advisor (TMA) system is designed to optimize traffic flow to runways at the 20 Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs). The goal of TMA is to develop a coordinated sequence and schedule for aircraft and display this plan to air traffic controllers. TMA calculates arrival schedules in real time based on flight plans, wind data, and information entered by air traffic management coordinators and controllers. With TMA, air traffic management coordinators can even out traffic flow using separation strategies such as spacing and sequencing aircraft for arrival, and determining optimal departure times. The TMA system uses Sun Blade 1500 workstations for GUI displays and backup servers. Given the high failure rate of the Sun Blade 1500 and the unavailability of spares, the FAA wants to acquire the SunFire V240 servers to replace 90 of the TMA backup servers. This will return 90 Sun Blade 1500s to spare inventory, and also place 10 additional Sunfire V240 servers in spare inventory. It is estimated that an award may be made within 15 days from this notice. Any inquiries should be directed to the Contracting Officer, Mario Maccarone, via e-mail at mario.maccarone@faa.gov or via phone at 609-485-6740. All inquiries must be received by 7/16/08 at 12 noon.
