Description
The Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Federal Protective Service (DHS/ICE/FPS), plans to enter into a contract for a three year period with one basic ordering period and two(2) two year option periods. The basic ordering period will begin on October 1, 2008 and continue to September 30, 2009. The period of performance for the entire contract is October 1, 2008 though September 30, 2011. FPS has a need to purchase Dry Cleaning and Alteration Services for Police Officers in the Washington, DC area. Contractor is required to perform all work at the Dry Cleaning/Laundry Establishment as no laundry or alteration work is to be sent out to another establishment. The contractor must be located within the Washington Metropolitan area that includes, Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. Contractor must have the knowledge of correct cleaning solvents that need to be used to avoid any damage or discoloring of the uniform material and make all needed alterations on an as needed basis in addition to cleaning and laundry services. The contractor shall dry clean or provide laundry services on FPS uniforms, including Shirts, Blouses, (starch, if requested), Trousers, Trench Coats, Jackets, Sweaters, Hats, Ties, Battled Dress Uniforms (BDUs) and other Items/Accessories worn by FPS. A Monday through Saturday Workweek is required, except for weeks that include a Federal Holiday. FPS requires that the establishment consist of an eight hour day, open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. There will also be two additional pickup and drop off locations throughout the week. They are: Monday and Thursday Each Week – Western District Precinct - 6315 Bren Mar Drive, Alexandria, VA Tuesday and Friday Each Week - Central District Precinct (Coast Guard Building) - 2100 Second Street, SW Washington, DC Based on historical data, the contractor can anticipate there will be approximately 200 items to be cleaned each month. The majority of the items, about 95%, are trousers and shirts. The remaining 5% consist of the cleaning of coats, jackets and sweaters and minor alterations/repairs to patches on jacket and coat sleeves. At time of award, the contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) website at www.ccr.gov.
