Description
The first ever Air Force Reserve/Air National Guard Teen Summit was held 14-18 July 2008 at the Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, GA. The summit was a tremendous success with two Teen Summits scheduled for July and August 2009. Location of 2009 Teen Summit is Dahlonega, GA and Jeykll Island, GA. 92 teens attended from 32 states, some as far away as Alaska. Teens took leadership and environmental education classes and discussed issues they face as dependents of Air Reserve Component members. They also participated in high adventure activities including a high ropes course, zip line and a white water rafting trip. Representatives from 4-H, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, American Legion and Military OneSource presented information about programs and services currently available to them. Teens also discussed programs and services they need that are not available. Teens identified their top four issues as communication, transportation, recognition and awareness, and counseling and support, and presented their results to the AFRC/CC. A post evaluation of the summit showed an overwhelming response to the program, and requested that it become an annual event. Corporations and businesses interested in providing in-kind or monetary support in exchange for brand exposure within the military environment are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities offered by this new sponsorship venue. Benefits include: product sampling; event title recogntion; name and logo recognition; and exposure to a military market including military members & their families, retirees, civilians, and contractors of the US government. This is a new and exciting program for our military teens ages 15 - 18 yrs nationwide and we are proud to be the hosts for this impressionable and important event. More than one sponsor may be used and category exclusivity is dependent upon sponsorship. This is a solicitation for commercial sponsorship by a non-appropriated fund instrumentality of the United States government. It does not obligate appropriate or non-appropriate funds to the government. For more information on partnering with us and the sponsorship opportunities available, contact Phyllis Link at (478) 327-2101 or email: phyllis.link@afrc.af.mil.
