Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Immunetics, Inc., 27 Drydock Avenue, 6th floor, Boston, MA 02210, for prototypes of a QuickELISA for the detection and quantitation of influenza H5 specific antibodies. ELISA-style assays are required for improvement over cell-based hemagglutination inhibition and microneutralization assays. Assays require live virus; high-path avian influenza viruses must be done in BSL-3 high containment laboratories, but an ELISA based on recombinant HA as an antigen can be done in a standard BSL-2 laboratory throughout the world, which is required. Assay must be high-throughput, highly sensitive and quantitative, plus must be rapid (within 30 minutes for result). Assay should be able to process serum samples from any mammalian or avian species without changing any components of the assay. Assay is required to be easily incorporated into an automation system such as a Triturus EIA analyzer, so that hundreds of samples can be analyzed at one day, while at the same time it can be run on a bench top in a simple laboratory setting. Antigen-antibody reaction must occur with both entities in solution. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Linda M. Young.
