- The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA is planning to procure (1) Drop Shock on a full and open competition basis using FAR 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Specifications for the Drop Shock are as follows: Performance requirements for the Drop Shock shall meet or exceed the following requirements and contractor shall provide technical documentation proving that the system meets each requirement: 3.1 Maximum lift capacity: 4,000 lbs. (1,818 kg); 3.2 Maximum test specimen weight 3,000 lbs. (1,364 kg) in non-accelerated free fall mode; 3.3 Maximum test specimen weight 250 lbs. (114 kg) in accelerated fall mode at MAX drop height; 3.4 Maximum specimen dimensions: 18 x 18 in., height unrestricted; Specimen mounting tapped holes: 3/8-16 UNC stainless steel inserts on a 2.5-in. square grid; 3.6 Maximum velocity change (100 lb. payload): 3.6.1 Free-fall: 29 ft./sec. 3.6.2 Accelerated: 75 ft./sec.; 3.6 Maximum peak acceleration level (100 lb. payload): 7,500 g; 3.7 Table lifting / positioning system: Two (2) 2-ton electric chain hoists operating at 16 ft./min.; 3.8 Table weight (approximate): 450 lbs. (204 kg); 3.9 Seismic reaction base weight (approximate): 5,000 lbs. (2,273 kg); 3.10 Power requirements: 3.10.1 Machine: 208/240 VAC, 3 phase, 3.10.2 Controls: 115/120 VAC, 1 phase; 3.11 Nitrogen requirements: 3.11.1 Seismic Suspension: Nitrogen gas @ 2,200 psi: 3.11.2 Brake System: Nitrogen gas @ 2,200 psi; 3.12 Envelope dimensions: 3.12.1 Base: 66 x 48 in. (168 x 122 cm): 3.12.2 Height: 196 in. (498 cm); 3.13 Machine weight (approximate) : 14,000 lbs. (6,364 kg).
