- Description
- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in support of Naval SeaSystems Command, Program Executive Office, Littoral & Mine Warfare (PEOLMW), Maritime Surveillance Systems (MSS) Program Office PMS 485 intends toissue a sole source RFP, under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) and FAR6.302-1, to BAE Systems of Nashua, NH for the production of the Compact LowFrequency Active (CLFA) Transmit Subsystem. This subsystem includes aunique, highly specialized underwater acoustic projector (active) array whichhasbeen optimized for use aboard the SURveillance Towed Array Sensor System(SURTASS) ships. PMS 485 also requires field engineering and depot supportfor these SURTASS subsystems. This effort will include the procurement of several component subsystems ofthe Compact Low Frequency Active Transmit Subsystem (CLTS) for up to three(3) ships. Subsystems to be procured include CLFA Projectors and Tow Bodies,the Non-Acoustic Sensors (NAS) and Ethernet subsystems, cables and junctionboxes. The procurement will also include spares and engineering support forthis equipment on all SURTASS ships with low frequency active systems. Thisprocurement will include up to three sets of the following: eighteen (18)projector assemblies; a NAS speed sensor; three (3) NAS Pitch, Roll, Heading,Depth (PRHD) Sensors; and the interconnecting cables and top side and wetside junction boxes required for shipboard installation as well as spares forallcomponents. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which theGovernment intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under theauthority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest andcapability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice ofintent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposalsreceived within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis willbeconsidered by the Government. A determination by the Government not tocompete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice issolely within the discretion of the Government. Information received willnormally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether toconduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated this contract will be awarded in March 2009.
