Description
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a requirement for brand name Hewlett Packard (HP) and Tempest Products as identified below. This requirement is for an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity contract for a period of one year contract with two one-year option periods. The government estimates the cost to be approximately $20,730,000. The government intends to purchase HP and Tempest non-baseline equipment for the classified Sensitive Compartmented Information Operational Network (SCION). This equipment is necessary to complete enhancements to the SCION classified enclave. The current infrastructure is designed with HP servers and storage area networks. SCION is currently undergoing a major network upgrade to resolve a number of critical issues. These include the Windows 2003/AD, Security Mediator and Livelink relational database upgrades. The core network is also being upgraded to support the COOP requirements in Clarksburg, West Virginia. HP was selected as the primary core devices in the past due to their reliability and options to scale beyond other systems offered in the past. Modifying the infrastructure as this point to support other platforms would result in unacceptable delays and higher costs. In the future, the government will develop and test different platforms and if successful, will develop a plan to migrate to that platform after additional funding is secured to purchase the equipment. At this time, attempting to rebaseline the system to support another platform would result in unacceptable delays to the enhancements to the infrastructure currently underway. This notice is being publicized in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.102(a)(6).
