Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for one MEMS Mirror and a set of drive electronicscircuit boards. The KILO Deformable Mirror has the following specifications:-32X32 actuator mirror array-Aluminum Coated-1.5 um Stroke-Continuous DM-Packaged in 1024 pin PGA and wirebondedThe Expansion of existing Kilo Driver Hardware has the following specifications:-256 channel driver cards(4)-Cables(2)-Mirror Mount Board with ZIF socket-New control software-Hardware and software installationNASA/ARC intends to purchase these items from Boston Micromachines Corporation (BMC). This procurement is intended to be a sole source requirement due to the nature of theintegration of this new equipment to the existing system. This mirror and electronicsset will be combined with an existing mirror set and the electronics will be installed inan existing rack of drive electronics which is scalable to operate more than one mirror. The existing mirror set and rack of drive electronics was previously procured from BostonMicromachines Corporation. Procurement of these items from Boston MicromachinesCorporation ensures compatibility. Use of a BMC mirror and drive electronics that matchexisting laboratory equipment would also save a great deal of laboratory time and effortby allowing the customer to take advantage of existing laboratory hardware and softwareto perform the work. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon September 4, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
