Description
Specifications for Longitudinal Glued-Laminated Deck Panel Modular Bridge General: Provide two Longitudinal Glued-Laminated Deck Panel Modular Bridges with curbs, sills, running planks, and backing planks. Each bridge shall conform to the following: •Total bridge width: 16 feet. (4 longitudinal glued-laminated deck panels, 10.75” x 4’-0”). Include ¾” diameter tie rods with nuts and ½” x 6” x 6” plate washer spaced at 6’ max to transversely tie the deck panels together. Also include ¾” lag bolts to connect the deck panels to the sill, 2 per panel per end. Counter sink lag bolt holes. •Curbs: 6” x 10.75” with curb blocks 10” x 10.75” x 2’-4” spaced at 8’ max. Connect the deck panels per Region 1 Standard Curb details. •Running Planks: 2” x 12” rough sawn. 12 runs. Fasten to deck panels with two rows of 6” ring shank nails per plank @ 24” centers. Alternate centers with nails at each end of plank. •Backing Planks: 2” x 12” x 22’ each end (1 splice allowed). •Sills: 12”x 10.75” x 18’ each end. Curbs and running planks shall be installed prior to delivery. Panels, tie rods, backing planks and sills are to be delivered unassembled. Material Specifications: Solid Sawn timber members shall conform to the requirements of the grading rules agency for the species, type and grade specified below. Glued laminated members shall conform to the American Institute of Timber Construction (AITC) 117-2001 for the combination, species, use and appearance specified below. Running Planks, and Backing Planks:Coastal Douglas Fir, Rough Sawn, No. 1 Grading Rules Agency – WWPA, WCLIB Deck Panels, Curb Elements and Sills:Combination Symbol 5 Wet condition use and industrial appearance Treatment: Preservative treatment shall be in accordance with the current AWPA specifications using the treatment materials listed below. Treatment will comply with the requirements of the current edition of WWPI’s Best Management Practices For the use of Treated Wood In Aquatic Environments. Glued – Laminates: AWPA C28 (above ground use) Pentachlorophenol in heavy oil (Type A solvent) Sawn Lumber:AWPA C2 (above ground use) Pentachlorophenol in heavy oil (Type A solvent) Hardware: All bolts and nuts include malleable iron washers and shall conform to ASTM A307, grade A. Tie Rods shall conform to ASTM A36. All steel elements to be uncoated. Fabrication: Submit shop drawings for all bridge components. Show all fabrication details and dimensions. Field drilling of holes is not allowed. Delivery: The bridges are to be delivered to the FS facility located at 1820 Meadowlark Lane in Butte, MT.
