- Description
- Technology: Dual Focus Micro-Filter - 08-22 Opportunity: Idaho National Laboratory, managed and operated by Battelle Energy Alliance is offering the opportunity to license and commercialize technology. The INL would like to identify a partner to enter into a license agreement for INL's MicroSight technology. Technology: The INL has developed technology to improve magnification of target by a special filter to be mounted in the rear sight of an aiming system. This filter has similar focusing properties to refraction lenses, but with more than one focal length. In this application, a first and second focal length would be regulated to bring both the front sight and target into simultaneous focus. Use of this lens allows for better alignment and improved accuracy for the sighting system user. Current single lens sights cannot provide a clear view of both the front sight and target. Technology Highlights: • Single lens • Rear sight mounted • Provides simultaneous clear focus on front sight and target • Easily retrofitted into an existing aiming system Development Status: The INL has currently designed this technology for one weapon's application with flexibility to be configured for other applications. INL has filed a patent application covering this invention. Benefits: INL's MicroSight technology provides for fast target possession and improved target probability at low cost and without added weight, bulk, or reduced reliability. Unique dual-focus micro-inserts placed within conventional iron weapon sights provide simultaneous clear focus on the front sight and target. THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Interested industry partners should respond by October 9, 2008. Interested parties should send a description of their company and their abilities in optical design and fabricate this technology to the contact listed below. Any questions or inquiries should be directed to the contact listed below. The INL is soliciting a written indication of interest from partners interested in a license agreement for the purpose of further optical design development and commercializing this technology. Please provide your written statement of interest within 30 days from the date this announcement is published to ensure your consideration.
