Description
In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), The Portland District US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking information from contractors who can fabricate tainter valves with the following noted requirements: 1. This will be a supply and install contract to build a tainter gate and hydraulic operating apparatuses. It is projected that 3 to 5 tainter gates will need to be supplied. 2. Plans and specifications will be issued around the November/December, 2008 timeframe. Delivery and installation will be needed around the December 2009/January 2010 timeframe. 3. All major structural steel components shall be ASTM A709, GR 50. There are some ASTM A304 stainless required for seal plates. 4. The fabricator shall be AISC certified. All welding shall be done according to AWS D1.5. All welder qualifications shall meet the requirements outlined in AWS D1.5. 5. All fabrication and fit up tolerances shall meet requirements from AISC, Chapter M, Fabrication, Erection and Quality Control. 6. Approximate weight for each tainter valve is 45,000 lbs. 7. Each finished fabricated tainter valve shall be stressed relieved. 8. A minimum of 2 cranes shall be needed for removal of the original tainter valve and installation of the new tainter valve. We would like to know the following: 1) Who can provide the work as required above? 2) Are there small businesses that can perform this work with the above requirements? 3) Can the delivery date be met or exceeded? 4) Any issues or concerns with the aforementioned requirements for certification? 5) Any issues or concerns with the ability to obtain the necessary steel? 6) Any issues or concerns with access to facilities to perform the work or parts of the work? 7) Any other issues or concerns? Open for response/feedback. The Federal Supply Code is 9520; the NAICS code is 332312 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. Responses are due no later than 22 September 2008 and should be addressed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, 333 SW First Ave, Portland, OR 97204, ATTN: Ms Amy Kelm (CENWP-CT-S) or e-mailed to amy.a.kelm@usace.army.mil. The Government will not pay for any materials provided in response to this market survey nor return the data provided. This is not a request to be placed on a solicitation mailing list nor is it a Request for Quotations or Proposals (RFQ/RFP) or an announcement of a solicitation.
