Description
The 96th Contracting Squadron, Eglin AFB, Florida intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for small steel blastbox. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6 and Subpart 13.5, As supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. The announcement number is F1TBAM8205A002. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 332710 with a size standard of 500 employees. Please identify your business size in your response based upon this standard. This is 100% small business set aside. The requirement consists of the following items: CLIN 0001: One (1) each, One steel blastbox is to be constructed from A36 and normalized 4340 steel grade material. The blastbox is distiguished as small pertaining to the opening created once assembled. The blastbox is constructed of four walls, four edges, two insert boxes, and two insert box covers designed to mate together as slip fits with little room for movement between adjoining parts in accordance with specifications and drawings. Specifications Walls The walls designated long and short to distiguish them. The long wall has overall dimensions of 95"X24"X4" where as the short wall has overall dimensions of 38.25"X24"X3". Each wall will need to have slots cut from their 4" or 3" depth so they may except the edges needed to complete the blastbox assembly. One of the long walls will also have to have an additional slot cut at the bottom of each end to allow for instrumentation cables. Two holes will also need to be taped and drilled so that the walls can be lifted and moved into place. Edges There are two edges designated long and short to distiguish them. For the small box, the long edge has overall dimensions of 54.88"X6"X11.94" and overall dimensions of 22.88"X6"X10.44" for the short edge. To complete asssmbly of the box each edge will need to be constructed. Insert Boxes and Covers There are two insert boxes consisting of one right and one left. The blastboxes have overall dimensions of 38.25"X23"X13.5". The insert boxes are hollow and are made of 1" thick A36 steel. The blastboxes have covers designated "insert box covers" made from A36 steel also. The insert box covers have overall dimensions of 38.25"X1"X13.5". Construction The vendor should have the capability to adequately handle and perform manufacturing processes necessary to generate parts described in drawing sets provided for the large blastbox. This consist of the proper tools, machinery, work tables for support, cutters, bits, etc. The vendor should also be able to perform manufacturing processes without dramatically altering the material properties of the normalized 4340 steel material, i.e. torching shouldn't be considered. It is important that material properties be kept consistent from start to finish as much as possible. Tolerances for dimensions should be held to the hundredths. Delivery The small box should be delivered to the advanced warhead experimental facility (AWEF range C-64B) Hwy 285 Range Rd, Eglin AFB, FL 32542.
