- QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 1-The number of patients/week that they want to study has increased since last contract. Is this going to be actual numbers or approximate? Or was it meant to be the same number of patients as the last contract? The numbers are approximate and attempt to integrate patients that we see for consultation and study (reflected in current numbers) as well as patients that we currently cannot see within 30 days and therefore refer out on fee basis. 2-Is the current data exchange appropriate? If this means provision of clinical information and orders from us to the lab and return of polysomnography (PSG) reports to VA, it's working very well. For patients seen clinically at the Center, we need better coordination on our end to get documentation communicated to providers and treatment prescribed. The Sleep Center's responsibility will be to get notes and recommendations to us as soon as possible. They will be expected to perform sufficient follow-up of patients to stabilize them at the Sleep Center. 3-The VA does accept UB04 and HCFA 1500 forms for other types of patients (inpatient and standard outpatient). Is this an option for billing against this contract? Yes. The forms can be sent to our payment center in Austin, TX for processing. You will need to make sure that the assigned purchase order number is located on the form or no payment will be made. 4-Our institutional billing statement essentially provides all the information that the VA requires, except the last four digits of the patients SSN. Can this be presented instead of the spreadsheet we currently provide? By my understanding of the process, and with the forms you use (UB04 and HCFA 1500) the patient's entire social security number is listed. We need this for verification of services.
