- Description
- The Boeing Company, in conjunction with our partner Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), together acting as Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) for the Army, is pleased to announce a new competitive bid opportunity for the Future Combat Systems (FCS) Large Caliber Ammunition Resupply (LCAR) solution. The FCS program is an integral component, with other key complementary U.S. Government and commercial programs, in the U.S. Army's goal to field the first Future Force FCS Brigade Combat Team (BCT) by 2014. The Armys Future Combat System Brigade Combat Team (FCS BCT) Program has the requirement to resupply large caliber ammunition or the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon (NLOS-C). This RFP will focus only on the NLOS Cannon. The LCAR device will provide heavy lift & transfer assistance to the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck Load Handling System (HEMTT-LHS) crew, loading diversified ammunition. The LCAR device will be external to the MGV platforms, and will be used to assist loaders with transferring ammunition from the HEMTT-LHS and the PLS Trailer to the Manned Ground Vehicle upload ports. The Soldier is allowed to conduct final interface between LCAR device and MGV. The LCAR device will be truck transported and must be compatible with the HEMTT LHS and/or Palletized Load System (PLS) Trailer with Flat-rack, which are transportation assets organic to the FCS BCT. The Suppliers have a responsibility to deliver up to two prototypes, and assist the contractor in evaluation, focusing on reduction of Soldier effort via manhandling. The suppliers shall review optimizing ammunition packaging to identify potential future handling systems automation features. Two suppliers will be awarded a contract to submit their prototype(s). The FCS funding is targeted not to exceed $5 Million per supplier. A Proprietary Information Agreement and FCS Questionnaire are due no later than 17 October 2008. Please visit the FCS Website at www.boeing.com/fcs for additional information or Beth Winkelmann (information is below). Please DO NOT contact the TACOM POC.
