- Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System (FAAAMS) paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with IBM Global via single source procedures. The IBM operating systems and subsystem software is the operating system that is necessary to operate and support Central Support Software Development (CSSD) IBM mainframe computers at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center. This activity supports the Enroute and Oceanic Operational Field Sites and FAA supported projects. IBM Global is the only known source available for the software the FAA is currently using to support their requirements and therefore cannot be obtained through any other source. IBM Global brings the following essential data experience. Original manufacturer of the software, which is proprietary to the company that is necessary to operate and support CSSD's IBM mainframe computers for the FAA. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement. If your firm does not agree with this single source determination, please provide evidence of your firm's capabilities and experience in providing the above service. The FAA will evaluate this accordingly. All response to this announcement must be directed to Daphne Atwood no later than 12 noon (Eastern Time), October 27, 2008.
