- The U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center, Edgewood Contracting Division, Aberdeen Proving Ground intends to enter into a sole source contract for the M53 Chemical Biological (CB) Protective Mask with Avon Protection Systems, 503 8th Street, Cadillac, MI 49601-9282. The contractor will be required to deliver a fully functional and operational M53 CB Protective Mask System and associated components. The M53 CB Protective Mask System consists of a facepiece assembly, filter, waterproof bag, clear outsert, protective hood, mask carrier, operator cards, audio frequency amplifier, faceform, amplifier adapter and dynamic microphone. The M53 CB Protective Mask System is a positive pressure-capable individual protective mask designed to provide above-the-neck, head, ocular and respiratory protection against known chemical and Biological agents and radioactive particles as well as emerging chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) threats. The M53 provides improved, self-contained and powered air breathing systems interface, increased visual field of view, reduced weapons systems sighting interference and is compatible with joint and Special Operations Forces (SOF)-peculiar integrated ensembles. These reqiurements will be procured on the basis of other than full and open competition under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The duration of the proposed effort is 60 months. Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the government will consider all responses received by 1600 November 20, 2008. A determination by the government not to compete this proposal action bases upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Informaiton received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
