Description
Through a Department of Energy Grant the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is collaborating with Steam Filter LLC in the design, fabrication and installation of a patented 450-500 Air-Dry-Ton per Day Steam Cycle Washer (SCW) for washing of unbleached pulp. The feasibiliby of the process has been tested and demonstrated through bench scale and pilot plant tests. Data generated from the tests has confirmed that the SCW will: 1) reduce power consumtion 2) reduce evaporative load 3) reduce fuel/steam consumption 4) reduce soda consumption 5) reduce plant effluent and fresh water usage (30-50%) 6) increase fiber yeild (1-2%) and quality, resulting in potential 40-60 $/ADT operating savings. The INL is soliciting industry participation to demonstrate the SCW in an operating pulp mill and to generate commercial scale production operating data. As a part of the demonstration project the INL and Steam Filter LLC will complete the design (90% complete), and fabrication (30% complete) of the SCW, and will transport and install it in the participant's pulp mill at no cost to the mill. At the conclusion of the SCW demonstration project the participant(s) will have an option to lease or purchase the SCW from Steam Filter LLC, or have the SCW removed from their plant. No federal funds willbe provided to industry participant(s) as a part of this project. Interested companies should provide a response on or before December 15, 2008.
