Description
The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to procure engineering, design, and analytical services for the development of a technical architecture for Next Generation Integrated Power Systems (NGIPS) from the four US shipyards that produce destroyers, cruisers, aircraft carriers, and submarines for the US Navy: Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (Gulf Coast and Newport News) and General Dynamics (Electric Boat and Bath Iron Works). The addresses for the intended contractors are: Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding Gulf Coast, 1000 Access Road, Pascagoula, MS 39567; Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding Newport News, 4101 Washington Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607; General Dynamics Electric Boat, 75 Eastern Point Road, Groton, CT 06340-4989; and General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, 700 Washington Street, Bath, ME 04530. NGIPS is an enterprise approach to develop and provide smaller, simpler, more affordable, and more capable ship's power systems for Navy platforms that require power dense soluti! ons. The objectives include refinement of the NGIPS Technology Development Roadmap; identification of requirements and technology gaps that would need to be filled to enable NGIPS application on destroyers, cruisers, aircraft carriers, and submarines; identification of modeling and design tool gaps to prioritize resources for the development of those tools; and identification of shipyard processes that would need to be adjusted to implement the NGIPS philosophy. No solicitation is available. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact the identified shipyards directly. See Note 22.
