Description
The USDA, ARS, intends to procure as a sole source 5 each velocity flow meters, YSI Sontek ARGONAUT-SW 3.0 MH2 sytems and 20-m power and Rs232/SD1-12 communications cable from YSI, Incorporated, Yellow Springs, Ohio. The velocity flow meter must met the following specifications: Each unit must: 1. be a single unit, up looking, bottom mounted, open channel Doppler velocity meter. 2: be compatible with the currently owned ISCO Avalanche Sampler (Part Number 68-2970-003) through the ISCO module connection or SDI-12 communication protocol. 3. be able to measure positive and negative flow velocities (labeled as positive or negative flow) with a minimum 0.1 cm/s resolution with + 1% accuracy. 4. be able to measure velocity all the way to the surface. 5. be able to measure multiple velocity measurements with depth (current profiling). 6. able to measure depth with an acoustic beam with a minimum depth range from 0.2 to 5 meter with a minimum of + 0.1% accuracy. 7. be able to offset depth readings to take into account unit height and mounting requirements. 8. be able to measure water column temperature (minimum range from -5 to 40 deg C). 9. have at least a 4 MB recorder capacity for data storage. 10. be capable of real time or autonomous-recording operation. 11. include the mounting plate, mounting hardware and viewing/downloading software. 12. have a minimum of a single uninterrupted 20 meter power and communication cable from the unit to connections for downloading and sampler integration. 13. be compatible with a 12 volt battery power source on a solar panel power charger. 14. be durable and be able to operate in debris filled, sediment laden drainage water without sensor fouling (self cleaning). The units shall be delivered FOB Destination to the USDA, ARS, Soil and Water Research Unit, 4117 Gourrier Ave. Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
