Description
The Mines, Demolition, and Grenades office of the Rock Island Contracting Center is conducting a market survey of industry to identify sources interested in the manufacture of the complete M67 Fragmentation Grenade. The M67 Fragmentation Grenade is used to supplement small arms fire in close combat situations. The grenade produces casualties by high velocity projection of fragments in a uniform pattern when detonated. The M67 utilizes a steel spherical body, filled with high explosives that are initiated by a pyrotechnic delay fuze. This device is comprised of three (3) major components. They are, 1) the metal body, 2) a pyrotechnic delay detonating fuze, and 3) the Load, Assemble and Pack (LAP) of the explosive composition and the components into the final assembly. A recent change to the M67 is the addition of a confidence clip. The clip is a stamped metal part that is assembled between the fuze and the grenade body, aiding in the prevention of accidental removal of the pull ring. It is not, however, considered a safety feature. Due to the addition of the Confidence Clip to the M213 fuze, the safety pin on the fuze is lengthened by approximately 0.100. The technical description of this item is identified as: Grenade, Hand, Fragmentation, Delay, M67, NSN 1330-00-133-8244, and PN 9235492. The NAICS code for this item is 332993 with a business size standard of 1,500 employees. Please indicate your business size in your response. Interested companies should respond by providing the Government the following information: a brief summary of the companys capabilities (a description of facilities, personnel, and past manufacturing experience as it relates to the above criteria) and price and availability, i.e., estimated minimum and maximum monthly production quantities, the Minimum Procurement Quantity (MPQ) required for production, and required lead time after date of award based on approximately 60K units per month. A respondent to this survey should be able to show adequate technical and manufacturing capability and good past performance in the explosives processing industry. A respondent to this market survey must have available a majority of the skills and facilities that are required to manufacture this fragmentation grenade. If a respondent does not have adequate resources (technical, manufacturing, personnel, etc.) available, the respondent must be able to demonstrate his ability to obtain those resources in a timely fashion. If a respondent chooses to utilize the services of sub-tier vendors or subcontractors, those vendors or subcontractors must also meet this criteria. Information shall be submitted within 30 calendar days from the date of this publication to: Rock Island Contracting Center, ATTN: CCRC-AM, Stephanie Migawa, 1 Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Il 61299-8000. This is a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The Government will utilize the information provided only to develop the acquisition strategy for future requirements. All information submitted will be held in a confidential status.
