- The United States Coast Guard Maintenance & Logistics Command, Atlantic intends to issue a Commercial Request for Quote (RFQ) for DRYDOCK Repairs to the USCGC BISCAYNE BAY. The acquisition will be solicited as a Total Small Business Set-Aside. The Coast Guard intends to conduct the procurement in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The simplified acquisition will be issued as a Best Value, Request for Quote (RFQ), on or about January 25, 2010. The solicitation will be issued electronically on the FEDBIZOPPS web page at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. It is incumbent upon contractors to monitor the FEDBIZOPS web page for RFQ release and all subsequent amendments. Please sign up for the Auto Notification service to receive e-mail from FEDBIZOPPS when an action is taken under this solicitation. The small business size standard is less than 1,000 employees. The NAICS Code is 336611. The USCGC BISCAYNE BAY (WTGB 104) homeport is the ST. IGNACE, MI, GEOGRAPHICAL RESTRICTIONS: GREAT LAKES. Anticipated start date on or about 3 MAY 2010 through 21 JUNE 2010. The scope of the acquisition is to: (1) perform ultrasonic thickness measurements, (2) clean and inspect grey water collection and holding tanks, (3) remove, inspect and reinstall propeller shaft, (4) replace shaft seal assembly, (5) propulsion shaft thrust bearing measurements, (6) remove, inspect and reinstall propeller, (7) clean main diesel engine exhaust stacks, (8) clean ship service diesel generator exhaust stacks, (9) clean boiler exhaust stacks, (10) renew depth indicating transducer, (11) clean shipboard ventilation systems, (12) overhaul and renew sea valves, (13) inspect and test air receiver, (14) inspect and test air systems, (15) renew steering system valves, (16) remove, inspect and reinstall rudder assembly, (17) perform anchor windlass maintenance, (18) perform vertical capstan maintenance, (19) inspect chocks and tow bits, (20) preserve weather deck, (21) preserve underwater body, (22) inspect bubbler channels, (23) preserve bubbler channels,(24) preserve tender freeboard 100%, (25) Renew cathodic protection system and (26) routine drydocking. All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures.
