NIH is comprised of twenty-seven Institutes, Centers, and Divisi ons. The Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center (CRC) is the onsite hospital for the NIH campus, providing full supp ort for clinical research in inpatient and outpatient settin gs. The 870,000 square foot complex consists of 242 inpatie nt beds and 90 day hospital stations. The CRC connects to t he existing Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center. Together, the Magnuson and Hatfield centers form the NIH Clinical Ce nter, the worlds largest clinical research complex serving a dual role; providing humane and healing patient care as wel l as the environment clinical researchers need to advance cl inical science. The Nutrition Department provides the best possible patient care and research support for patients of the NIH Clinical C enter. The Nutrition Department provides food to patients u ndergoing treatment at the NIH Clinical Center as well as nu trition assessments, counseling services, and enteral and pa renteral feeding recommendations by Registered Dietitians. The NIH is soliciting Beverage (soda) Distribution Services to provide 8oz cans of soda for patient's meals while underg oing research/treatment. Clinical Center patients, whether on an inpatient unit, a day hospital bed or in the outpatien t clinics are offered meals and nourishments to meet individ ualized need. Due to the many fluid restrictions for numero us diet types, 8oz cans are required. The Distributor will provide the NIH Clinical Center with th e necessary sodas (8oz size only) within the prescribed time frames in order to provide meals to patients undergoing rese arch/treatment in the CRC. A state-of-the-art integrated food management computer syste m CBORD allows the service of regular and therapeutic diets, as well as diets for research protocols. CBORD is populated with all food/products/nourishments that are provided to pa tients undergoing research/treatment in the CRC. Every food item/product/nourishment undergoes a comprehensive review b y a Registered Dietitian before it can be added to the datab ase, included on the room service menu and served to a patie nt. These reviews are conducted on an ongoing basis to ensu re that the Nutrition Department is in compliance with all r egulatory requirements (FDA, JCAHO, etc) for safe patient ca re. Because patients being followed at the NIH Clinical Center a re undergoing research, the Nutrition Department must not on ly ensure that patients receive the best nutritional care bu t also they must ensure the integrity of research protocols related to nutrition. Therefore, the contractor must provid e the nutritional ingredients and nutrient values of the sod as. If the vendor currently does not stock the products req uested in the current inventory they can provide their capab ility to add it to their inventory and the proposed cost. Period of Performance: The period performance shall be for 1 year from the date of award with 4 additional successive 1 2 month option periods based on the need for the service. The Contractor must have a valid DUNS number and be register in the Central Contract Registerar (CCR) database with an a ctive status, to be eligible for award before award.
