- The purpose of this Amendment 0003 to RFP W25G1V-10-R-0015 is to make changes to Attachment 1, Specification, provide Receiving Conveyor System drawing, and answer remaining offeror questions received. The response date of the solicitation is extended. Delete: 04 FEBRUARY 2010 @ 4:00 PM local; ADD: 05 FEBRUARY 2010 @ 3:00 P.M. 1. Reference combined Synopsis/Solicitation W25G1V-10-R-0015, ATTACHMENT 1, Specifications, Description, DELETE Paragraph 1 and subparagraphs a.) through e.) in their entirety; ADD: revised description provided as Attachment (1) to this Amendment 0003 2. Reference combined Synopsis/Solicitation W25G1V-10-R-0015, ADD: Attachment (4), Building 73 Receiving Conveyor Drawing #73 5K450 Conveyor, provided as Attachment (2) to this Amendment 0003. Offeror questions received with the Governments response: Q1. (a) At the pallet loading location on the straight section, will the pallet be loaded from the side of the conveyor or from the end of the conveyor? Is there only one loading location, or multiple? Will all the ten (10) foot conveyors be on the same side? (b) Is the layout provided on 1/21 the one to quote to? There were numerous comments that the layout was going to change. What controls are required at operator stations? (c) Is there a sequence of operation for the system? (d) Is there a description of operation available? (e) At the end of the unload sections, should a Call for Pallet button be included that will automatically deliver the next available pallet to that conveyor, including automatic operation of the transfer function? (f) Do the system controls require a manual mode and ability to operate each conveyor and transfer manually? (g) What decides which of the ten foot conveyors the pallet will go to when it leaves the conveyor? A1. There will be one loading location at the end of the conveyor with the seven (7) ten (10) foot sections being on the same side. Control of the transfer stations and ten foot section of conveyor will be via a manual pushbutton control at the end of the ten foot conveyor by operator selection. Each individual workstation will call for a pallet from the initial accumulation zones as required. See Synopsis/Solicitation Attachment (1), Specifications, Description, provided as Attachment (1) to this amendment 0003, and Synopsis/Solicitation Attachment (4), Building 73 Receiving Conveyor Drawing, provided as Attachment (2) to this amendment 0003, paragraphs 1 and 2 above. 3. Additional offeror questions received with the Governments response: Q2. What is the rate (i.e. units per hour)? A2. The rate is variable. Pallets will be called on demand. It may be one (1), or less, per hour and as high as 15 or more per hour. Q3. Should we include a Pallet Release pushbutton at the load point of the system for the delivering vehicle driver to initiate conveyance of the pallet after it has been placed on the conveyor? A3. A Pallet Release pushbutton should not be included. The pallet should move to the furthest empty accumulation zone automatically. The workstation will call for a pallet from these zones as required. Q4. Does the main panel require an HMI, programming port, and/or computer shelf? A4. System control and monitoring shall be by manufacturer design and recommendations. Q5. Please describe how the user anticipates the operator will move a pallet from the first accumulation zone into any of the transfer lanes. A5. The inspector/operator will push a button and the first pallet at the accumulation zone will be directed to that particular inspector/operator. Q6. Will the pallets be unloaded at the end of each of the conveyors? Will fork lift be entering on the 40 inch side of the pallet? A6. Pallets will not be unloaded at the end of each of the conveyors. Pallets will be loaded and removed using the 48 inch side of the pallets. Q7. Where are the pallets that are placed on the new conveyor system coming from? A7. The pallets that are placed on the new conveyor system will be coming from stock. Q8. After the pallets have been inspected, where do they go? A8. After inspection, the pallets are unloaded from the conveyor and stored/staged. Q9. Does this solicitation require guarding in the fork truck load area to protect the new conveyor? A9. Guarding in the fork truck load area is not required for this solicitation. Q10. At the site visit it was stated the Depot will bring power and air into the general area of the new conveyor. Is this true? A10. The Depot will provide utilities to a central location. The contractor is responsible for connection of equipment to supplied power drop. 4. All other terms, conditions, and requirements of the solicitation remain the same.
