Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) a sole source with The University of Maryland for the following services: Experimental use of invitro preparations of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and he fluorescence imaging system that records intracellular levels of calcium of pH and trans epithellal potential and resistance. Studies designed to determine the effects inflammatory cytokines on the calcium response of the RPE. In Vitro studies of the migration and proliferation of the RPE in order to investigate properties and changes in cytoskeleton and tight junctions that are responsible for RPE migration and proliferation associated with changes by intracellular pH, Ca and Na. Also, monitor mitochondrial potental during these changes and maintain records on experiments and results in excel spreadsheets and prduce graphs exhibiting summaries of the experiments. Again, this is a notice of intent to negotiate on a sole source basis with The University of Maryland for the continuation of services and is not a request for competitive proposals. The Government intends to issue a firm-fixed price purchase order for the services requested utilizing simplified acquisition procedures. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit capability statements by email to Garnesl@od.nih.gov, Contract Specialist by February 05 at 12:00 PM EST. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
