Description
PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE FOR The Replace Kitchen Cooler/Freezer Project at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI. Contractor shall provide for and furnish all labor, superintendence, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, licenses, certificates, insurance, temporary protection, and other items designated under the provisions of this contract Replace Kitchen Coolers/Freezers, project number 585-08-103 necessary for renovation of the Dietetics Kitchen coolers, freezers, storage and other areas located on the basement floor of Building 1 of the VA Medical Center Iron Mountain as outlined in the contract specifications and as shown on the contract drawings.Phase I: Contractor shall install infection control measures, walls, and barriers before the demolition of the area commences in rooms existing rooms B186J, B186I, B186G, B186H & B186F plus part of the corridor in the east side of the existing Dietetics Kitchen in the basement of Building 1 as shown on drawing G.102. The modifications to the existing mechanical and electrical items outside of the designated areas as noted in drawing G.102 shall also have infection control measures as noted in Construction Phasing Notes. All infection control measures shall be incorporated into the project as required by the Infection Control Risk Assessment. The new freezers, coolers, blast chiller, and all architectural, mechanical, fire protection and electrical work shall be fully functional, completely commissioned and tested before starting phase 2. The government shall have two weeks between major phases for cleaning and moving. Phase II: Contractor shall install infection control measures, walls, and barriers before the demolition of the area commences in rooms B186L, B186M, B186N, B186B, and B186P. The modifications to the existing mechanical and electrical items outside of the designated areas as noted in drawing G.102 shall also have infection control measures as noted in Construction Phasing Notes. All infection control measures shall be incorporated into the project as required by the Infection Control Risk Assessment. Construction of all the Dietetics Kitchen area to be complete and fully functional as required by the specifications and as shown on the drawings. All new areas shall be fully functional, completely commissioned and tested before final acceptance. All work is to be completed within 180 days after the issuance of the notice to proceed. This construction project is set-aside for Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSBs). All prospective contractors must be registered on the VetBiz website, www.vetbiz.gov, to be considered for award. The solicitation, specifications and drawings will be posted on Fedbizops. There will be pre-construction conference held for this project and all prospective bidders are encouraged to attend. Details of the pre-construction conference will be included in the solicitation packages. The solicitation will be issued on/about February 20, 2010 with the bid opening on/about March 25, 2010. The bidder is responsible to monitor and download any amendments from Fedbizops which may be issued to this solicitation. In accordance with Public Law 109-461, the Veterans Benefits, Healthcare and Information Technology Act of 2006. Pursuant to 38 USC 8127(d), competition is restricted to VOSB construction firms. The project magnitude range is between $500,000 - $2,000,000. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this procurement is 238220; size standard $14 Million applies. In accordance with FAR 52.204-7, Required Central Contractor Registration and in accordance with FAR 2.101, VAAR 802.101, VetBiz Registration, prospective firms must be registered in Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and in the VetBiz databases prior to award.
