Description
In accordance with FAR 5.205(c), this is a Special Notice from Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest in support of the Navy Energy Program. The Navy in the Northwest Region is in the preparatory stages of embarking on a renewable energy initiative that will increase our energy efficiency and mission effectiveness. This initiative will reduce our reliance and dependence on fossil fuels, foreign oil and furthermore reduce our carbon footprint. To assist in the planning and programming of this strategic effort, the Navy will host a Renewable Energy Symposium to aid in identifying the private sector expertise, experience and capability that will assist the Navy in this endeavor. While specific projects have not yet been identified, the Navy will present information on our current base infrastructure and outline the Navy's recently published Energy Strategy, which provides a framework for achieving specifically stated renewable and alternative energy goals. The Symposium will be held on Wednesday, 3 March 2010 in the theater at the Submarine Museum in front of Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport Washington. (http://www.navalunderseamuseum.org/) Registration will begin at 0800 and the event will kick off at 0830 and last until approximately 1130. A box will be available in which to place business cards, brochures and other marketing materials. Parties interested in attending the symposium should respond to this Special Notice no later than 4:30 PM (Pacific Standard Time) on 22 February 2010 to Debra Hammons at debra.hammons@navy.mil. Please provide names and number of attendees. Your response to this Special Notice or any materials left behind at the symposium will be treated as information only and part of market research and will not be shared outside of the Government. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges will be incurred by the Government as a result of contractor responses to this announcement or participation in the Symposium. This Notice does not constitute a solicitation for proposals or the authority to enter into negotiations to award a contract.
