Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to procure approximately twelve Interim Defensive Weapon System (IDWS) mission kits for the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft, IDWS spares, non-platform-related IDWS modifications/upgrades, and IDWS-specific logistics support from BAE Systems Controls, Inc. (BAE), 600 Main Street, Johnson City, NY 13790-1889, on a sole-source basis. BAE is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the IDWS, and at this time BAE’s IDWS is the only IDWS that has been integrated into and flight qualified on the MV-22. BAE is the only source that possesses the engineering, technical data and requisite knowledge of the IDWS design, fabrication, performance operation, maintenance and support characteristics to meet operational and combat needs. Consequently, it is deemed to be the sole source that can provide IDWS mission kits, IDWS spares, non-platform-related IDWS modifications/upgrades, and IDWS-specific logistics support.
