- Description
- N1241101004 - WILDLIFE EXCLUSION AND PRE- AND POST-CLOSURE BAT SURVEYS AT ABANDONED MINES IN CORONADO NATIONAL MEMORIAL, FORT BOWIE NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, AND SAGUARO NATIONAL PARKNAICS 541620 - Small Business Size Standard $7.0 Million - This acquisition is set aside for SMALL BUSINESS. Abandoned mine lands (AML) are typically defined as any physical feature previously used for the extraction of minerals for which no responsible party can presently be identified. For purposes here, the most important of these are hardrock mining features that include shafts, adits, tunnels, and other associated openings that have been adaptively used as roosting sites of various types of bats. As the result of funding made available through the 2009 enactment of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the National Park Service (NPS) is undertaking a series of AML closure projects aimed at improving human health and safety at AML sites servicewide. In the Intermountain Region (IMR), as elsewhere in the NPS, mine hazards are being mitigated through mine closures, entrance/portal reconstruction, exclusionary gates, fences, and other measures. Bat and other wildlife surveys were conducted as part of the Intermountain Region's planning process for developing closure recommendations. The purpose of this acquisition is to conduct additional surveys prior to and following closure of the mine features. Information on Coronado National Memorial may be accessed at www.nps.gov/coro; information on Fort Bowie National Historical Site may be accessed at www.nps.gov/fobo; and information on Saguaro National Park may be accessed at www.nps.gov/sagu. The solicitation and related documents will be available electronically at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. A paper solicitation will not be issued and electronic submission of contractor proposals will not be accepted. This is a best value procurement and award will be made based on price and price related factors. The Government will not accept an offer for award on the basis of superior capability without concern for the price of the offer. Non-Price factors are significantly more important that cost or price. Factors include, but may not be limited to: demonstrated abilities in work required (experience) and past performance. Details related to the source selection process will be posted within the solicitation in Sections L & M. Solicitation issue date is on or ABOUT Februrary 5th, 2010. All questions regarding this announcement and future submission of the solicitation and related documents are to be directed in writing to the Contracting Officer, Tammy K. Gallegos via email at tammy_gallegos@nps.gov.
