Description
RECOVERY ACTION. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The Management & Operating Contractor DUNS number is 175252894. The amount of $99,098 is provided in support of Department of Energy (DOE) Fossil Energy program work. Los Alamos National Laboratory's (LANL) involvement in Phase 1 of the project will be focused on development of the proposal and program plan for phase 2, as well as preliminary risk assessment efforts. LANL's role in the overall project will be in the application of expertise and numerical modeling for assessing the risks of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) injection and storage. Specifically, LANL, will utilize its CO2-PENS risk assessment computer models as well as numerical reservoir simulators “FEHM” and “PFLOTRAN” to determine quantitative risks and predict quantitative impacts at a CO2 sequestration field project site. Justification for Non-Fixed Price Type of Contract for WA* (added to description in FedBizOpps): Los Alamos National Security (LANS) was selected to provide assistance to the DOE in this Recovery Act work due to their familiarity with the subject matter and related technical capabilities and expertise. The work falls within the Carbon Capture, Sequestration and Enhance Oil Recovery Project of DOE Office of Fossil Energy, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B, Statement of Work Section 3.4 entitled “Energy Supply” of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: The Contractor shall conduct research that addresses energy supply issues by applying capabilities in the areas of exploration, reservoir modeling, integrated assessments, and environmental transport. The Contractor shall support DOE/National Nuclear Security Administration’s efforts in the broad areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, fossil energy, and nuclear energy. NOTE: This action is awarded under Modification no. A114 that recognizes Work Authorization no. RA-10-024 issued under Management and Operating Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396.
