The US Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), San Diego, CA has a requirement for a Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (FPLC) system for laboratory scale chromatographic separations of proteins and other biomolecules from complex mixtures. The required FPLC system has the following salient characteristics: --Flow rate of 0.1 to 50 ml/min. --Maximum back pressure rating of 10 bar. --Automatic motorized seven port injection valves --Automatic motorized nine port inlet valves on the buffer-A inlet --Three plunger pump for smooth flow. --Built-in preprogrammed methods for the following chromatography applications: Desalting, Purification of His-tagged protein, Purification of GST -tagged proteins, Purification of monoclonal antibodies, IgM purification. Removal of albumin, Protein renaturation on column, Anion exchange chromatography and Cation exchange chromatography. --DVD showing installation and preparation of the system for use. The DVD must also show how typical protein purification is set-up, performed and evaluated. --One year warranty and a second year mail-in warranty. --Fraction collector must be an integral, built-in part of the System. Currently GE Healthcare owns the rights to the FPLC process. GE Healthcare does not appear to have licensed this technology to any other manufacturer; therefore GE Healthcare is the only source of laboratory scale FPLC equipment.
