Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Iowa City, Iowa is seeking engineering firms to provide all professional, technical, and investigative services to prepare working drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and construction period services for the design and renovation of approximately 8,381 GSF of Building 16 for complete upgrade and replacement of the boilers and all associated support systems and equipment. The Design will include evaluation of steam use during all seasons of the year and include the addition or staggered sizing of boilers to maximize efficiency of the plant. Renovation of the space will include upgrade or refinishing of floor and wall surfaces and extension or replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system to support the updated boilers and systems. Project number 636A8-10-015. NAICS Code 541330 Engineering Services. The firm selected will provide complete bid documents that include specifications and drawings for structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work needed to provide for the boiler systems upgrades. A/E contract will include design (with reviews), reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections and as-built drawings. AE expected to employ the services of an industrial hygienist. The prime contractor should have experience designing and producing construction documents for boiler systems of similar capacity and complexity. Construction cost range is: $2,000,000 to $5,000,000. Applicants must have an established working office within a 150 mile radius of Iowa City, be of sufficient size and experience to accomplish the work, and be licensed in the State of Iowa. Firms desiring consideration must submit two copies of their qualifications and past performance on SF 330 (Architect Engineer Qualifications), and for any consultants, on SF 330 extra sections E & F no later than March 8, 2010.
