Description

PROJECT DETAILS: This project provides pavement preservation of the paved surfaces in all areas of Big Bend National Park. Big Bend National Park is located in Brewster County of Texas in the southwest portion of the State. The southern of the Park is adjacent to the Rio Grande and the border with Mexico.. The Project is broken into Schedule A and Option X for flexibility. Schedule A includes the major portion of the Park. Option X is limited to the Boquillas Canyon Area. Schedule A includes approximately 1,460,000 square yards of chip seal, 214,000 square yards of micro-surfacing and 2,800 square yards of pavement patching. This patching will be at locations designated by the Project Engineer. Option X is limited to the Boquillas Canyon Area. The work includes 51,000 square yards of chip seals. There is an additional 150 square yards of pavement patching at this area. The preservation treatments being use are chip seals and modified slurry seals. Other construction applications used on a lesser scale are pavement patching, crack sealing and pavement markings. It is anticipated that this project will be advertised in April with construction occurring from September thr December, 2010. Estimated cost $5.0 to $8.0 million
