- Contract Award Amount equals $7,497,400.00 Recovery Funds, and $8,156,257.00 Non-Recovery Funds. The C-37 Enlargement and Miscellaneous Features in Osceola and Polk Counties, Florida is part of the Kissimmee River Restoration Project (KRR). The work includes the following: excavation of Canal 37 from Station 15+00 to Station 193+00 to widen the canal by 20 feet from a bottom width of 70 feet to a bottom width of 90 feet, excavation of the north oxbow from Station 0+00 to Station 13+30, excavation of the south oxbow from Station 0+00 to Station 27+92, and placement of revetment to protect abutments to an existing bridge (station are rounded up to the nearest 10 feet). Work includes removal and disposal of any existing stone protection and disposal of excavated or dredged material including proper design, layout, and construction of and upland disposal area. The work also includes turbidity control and monitoring as well as elutriates toxicity testing. Hydraulic dredging is allowed; however, the Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining any additional permits, and performing work in accordance with the requirements of the anticipated contract, local, state, and federal laws, regulations and permits. The material to be excavated includes significant quantities of peat, silt, and clay. The general order of work is to excavate the north oxbow first, the south oxbow second, then Canal 37 from north to south. There will be a seasonal dredging schedule to allow for navigation, and a procedure for locking boats through the turbidity barriers. The work is located in Polk and Osceola counties within the C-37 canal, and near the Camp Mack fishing Marina.
