Description
CLINT 1 MS GSA WIN REMOTE DT SVR UCAL LIC/SA 3 Year Software Assurance MFG#6VC-01288 QTY 200. CLIN 2 MS GSA SQL SVR ENT LIC/SA 1CPU 3 Year Software Assurance MFG#810-04413-3 QTY 4. CLIN 3 MS WWF SQL SRV ENT 2008 DVD MFG #810-07416 QTY1. Rational for using a noncompetitive approach. The licenses for SQL and Terminal services are the only comprehensive remote acccess methodology available to allow access into the IHS network and are considered industry standard. It has been determined that these licenses will meet allof IHS' short-term and longe term requirements to provide a secure and supportable solution for VPN users. Another overriding factor for consideration is the ability of inter-relationship of the licesnes to the overall application solution which will provide the VPN user access to specific appliations within the IHS firewall. MS Terminal Services and MS SQL will allow IHS server and security administrators to install, configure, manage and maintain applications centerally on a few servers. Together this solution will save on IT support costs for the information systems infrastructure. Furthermore, centrally-deployed applications are easier to maintain (for example, patching and upgrading) and simpler to troubleshoot. As a result, downtime is reduced, users are more productive, and security is properly maintained. Additionally, since in a terminal server environment all application logic runs on the server, the processing and storage rquirements utilizing MS SQL database for client machines are minimal.
