Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announces its intent to negotiate a contract with Shoes for Crews, Inc, 1400 Centrepark Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Division of Safety Research in Morgantown, WV, has a need for the most effective slip-resistant shoes which are also moderately priced. Previous tests have shown that Shoes for Crews slip-resistant shoes are ranked as the most slip-resistant shoe brand when tested under wet and greasy conditions on a smooth surface. NIOSH intends to use these shoes to evaluate the effectiveness of slip, trip, and fall (STF) prevention practices in food services. NIOSH's research will also try to determine if specific interventions can reduce the risk of STF injuries to food service workers. Responsible sources that are small businesses and believe they can provide shoes which meet the criteria identified above are invited to submit to the Contracting Officer, within 15 days from the posting date of this notice, a written item description and pricing information in the format they choose, not to exceed 10 pages. The item description must include references to independent testing or certification of the slip-resistant properties of any shoes listed. Please forward the item description and pricing information to Florence Black at fpblack@cdc.gov or fax information to 412-386-6429. All vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) prior to an award of a federal contract. The website is: www.ccr.gov. The Government will review all item descriptions and pricing information submitted and determine if other qualified small business sources exist that could provide this requirement. Information received in response to this announcement will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement with small businesses. This project is supported by a justification for other than full and open competition to Shoes for Crews, a small business, under the authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c) (1). If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days after the posting of this notice, negotiations will be conducted, in accordance with FAR parts 12 and 15, with Shoes for Crews as the only source and a contract will be awarded without additional notices being posted.
