Description
This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Intramural Research Program (IRP) intends to solicit, negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis Taconic Farm, Inc., One Hudson City Centre, Hudson, NY 12534. The National Institutes on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Division of Intramural Research in Baltimore, Maryland requires Mutant Mice - CSMD1 knockout mice Minimum of 4, Heterzygous for the selected mutation, including at least one breeding pair to include a validated genotyping protocol and animal health data. The Molecular Neurobiology Research Branch plans to study the effects of deletion of the CSMD1 gene and several different models of the behavioral and psychological effects of cocaine, such as the acute locomotor effects, the ability of cocaine to induce conditioned locomotion (locomotion in response to an environment previously associated with the drug), and conditioned place preference (approach to a location previously associated with the drug). Taconic Farms, Inc. is the only company that sells CSMD1 knockout mice and since clusters of snps in the CSMD1 gene were found to be positively associated with addiction, we only want CSMD1 knockout mice at this time. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition FAR 13 and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NIHDA2010151, may be submitted by 4:30 p.m. March 23, 2010 to the NIDA, IRP, 251 Bayview Boulevard, Suite 200, BRC Bldg., Rm 04A326, Baltimore, MD 21224, ATTN: Carol Lindsay
