Description
(Subject Continued) DAM AND POWER PLANT NORFORK LAKE,BAXTER COUNTY, ARKANSAS ARRA RECOVERY- 13600 This proposed procurement is unrestricted. Date of issue for the solicitation will be on or about March 25, 2010, on www.fbo.gov. Proposals will be due on or about April 27, 2010. Provide a maintenance bulkhead or spillway closure structure consisting of a steel monorail supported on existing dam piers carrying a structural steel bulkhead weighing approximately 60 tons that will be used to temporarily seal an individual tainter gate bay at Norfork Lake. The monorail will enable the bulkhead to be positioned in front of, seal and dewater each of the twelve tainter gate bays on the dam for maintenance or to demonstrate gate operability. The bulkhead will be stored south of the spillway gates when not in use. Provide a siphon system to transfer water from Norfork Lake to the tailwaters of the dam. The maximum flow rate of the siphon will be approximately 185 cfs and sprayed into the stilling basin at the powerhouse level. The siphon will be a multi-level intake, which consists of three intake valves with grilles, temperature sensors and dissolved oxygen sensors located on the lakeside of the dam. Each intake will have knife gate type valve with an extension stem and stem guides, motorized operators and floor stands, and other appropriate accessories. Work will include boring a hole that is no larger than 48 square and approximately 45 feet long through the dam. The specification requires the contractor to be AISC certified category III Major Steel Bridge or to have an AISC certified fabricator to fabricate the bulkhead.
