- Description
- SAIC-Frederick (SAIC-F), on behalf of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), announces its intent to publish, in the second quarter of 2010, a solicitation for a Comprehensive Data Resource (CDR) that will integrate clinical data on patients from the National Cancer Database, specimen handling and processing data collected, patient consent, and molecular analysis data into one integrated system. Under its Prime Contract with the NCI, SAIC-F will issue this solicitation as part of the NCI Office of Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research (OBBR) initiative in support of the cancer Human Biobank (caHUB) under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). To meet the caHUB's goals, SAIC-F will award one contract to an organization capable of performing all activities associated with the CDR. The Subcontractor will bring modern informatics technologies to the management of biorepositories and the biospecimens within them. The Comprehensive Data Resource shall integrate with NCI's Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) and use its infrastructure as appropriate. caHUB's standards for bioinformatics support for biomaterials will be finalized in negotiations with the successful Subcontractor. caHUB is a new initiative being developed by the NCI Office of Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research. Through an advanced network of tissue acquisition, biorepository operations, pathology review, and bioinformatics capabilities, caHUB will develop the high quality, clinically annotated biospecimens that are essential resources to accelerate the development of molecular-based diagnostics and therapeutics for personalized medicine. Additional information about caHUB may be found at http://www.cancer.gov/recoveryfunding/page10.
