Description
Contractor shall provide all labor, material, tools, equipment, transportation, qualified supervision and design services to perform the project 'RENOVATE B/76, FIRST FLOOR, FOR RESEARCH (DESIGN/BUILD)' at the VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia. This procurement is 100% set-aside for qualified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) who have proven experience in the design/build process, and general construction and renovation in a medical care environment. Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials to perform the required work. Work includes general construction (including construction of partitions, door preparation and installation, painting new and existing surfaces, flooring, acoustical ceilings, toilet partitions, and cabinetry), alterations, mechanical and electrical (including power distribution, lighting, fire protection systems, security systems, air conditioning, installation of new and replacement of existing plumbing fixtures, and other work), utility systems and demolition. Contractor shall also be required to design the required electrical, plumbing, and fire protection modifications, access control and video monitoring systems and perform the construction of the completed design. All prime contractor employees and subcontractor employees must have received the 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety training, or equivalent in order to work on the job site. Documentation shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer prior to any work being performed. The NAICS code for this procurement is 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction with a small business size standard of $33.5M. All work shall be completed within one hundred eighty (180) calendar days after date of receipt of the Notice to Proceed. This includes design, construction, final inspection, completion of any punchlist items, and final clean-up. The estimated dollar amount of this procurement is between $250,000 - $500,000. The solicitation will be available ON OR ABOUT Friday, April 9, 2010. The date for receipt of proposal will be ON OR ABOUT Monday, May 10, 2010. A pre-proposal conference will be scheduled approximately 2 weeks prior to the proposal due date. The exact date and time for the pre-proposal conference and the receipt of proposals will be contained in the solicitation. The deadline for receipt of questions will be approximately ten (10) calendar days prior to the proposal due date. The Contracting Officer's email address is teresa.holley@va.gov.
