Description
Eugene O'Neill National Historic SiteReplace Old Barn FloorNaturalPAVE XL Resin Pavement Brand Name Product Use Justification NaturalPAVE XL resin pavement is an environmentally friendly pavement system. The NaturalPAVE XL is a water based binder emulsion that contains no petroleum binders, epoxy, chemical hardeners, or environmentally sensitive chemicals or substances that can leach into the soil. NaturalPAVE XL resin pavement binder emulsion when combined with a pavement quality aggregate will produce a sustainable pavement surface that retains the natural coloration and texture of the aggregate. It is cold applied, formulated with a non-ionic emulsifying agent, upon application to suitable pavement quality aggregates cures to a water insoluble binding and cementing agent of pavement mixtures suitable for vehicular and pedestrian traffic with high strength and sustainability. Another resin pavement product such as Terra Pave contains a pine tree based binder emulsion similar to the old Road Oyl binder emulsion which has a terrible odor and has proven to be unsustainable. This type of pine tree based binder emulsion product was previously used for the Old Barn floor surface, and the resin pavement surface failed rather quickly due to material spalling and degradation. The park purchased the NaturalPAVE XL resin pavement binder emulsion and applied it to the failing Road Oyl resin pavement in the Old Barn to harden and stabilize the floor surface. Other resin pavements contain epoxy, chemical hardeners and other environmentally sensitive chemicals and substances. Other resin pavements do not equal the psi strength, stability, and sustainability that NaturalPAVE XL resin pavement provides, as well as other resin pavement manufacturers do not perform product testing such as the Marshall Stability Test and engineering performance test specifications that NaturalPAVE XL manufacturer performs to determine the material strength and stability. Soil Stabilization Products Company, Inc. is the manufacturer and has the patent on NaturalPAVE XL binder emulsion and does not sell it to other distributers. NaturalPAVE XL resin pavement material has been used at several National Park sites including Fort Vancouver NHS, Golden Gate NRA, and John Muir NHS, as well as the Washington D.C. Zoo, Springs Preserve in Nevada, Vancouver Washington Land Bridge, Illinois Holocaust Museum, University of California Riverside, and Caltrans projects.
